If you’re planning a trip to Dubai, this guide will help you explore some of the city’s most visited attractions and popular experiences without wasting your time or money.

In this guide, I’m covering 7 must-visit Dubai attractions and experiences, including approximate ticket prices, how to get there, where to book, transport options, the best time to visit, and useful money-saving tips.

I’ve also included some booking platforms where you can compare prices and look for discounts.

So, if you’re planning a Dubai trip, let’s get started!

1. Burj Khalifa – Visit the World’s Tallest Building

If you’re visiting Dubai for the first time, Burj Khalifa is a must.

Standing at 828 metres, it is the world’s tallest building and one of Dubai’s most recognizable landmarks.

You can reach Burj Khalifa easily by taking the Dubai Metro to the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station. From there, you can follow the connected walkway toward Dubai Mall. Taxis can also drop you near the entrance.

Ticket prices vary depending on the observation deck, date and time. Standard tickets for the popular observation decks can start at around AED 180–200, while premium experiences cost more.

Should You Book a Sunset Slot?

Sunset is one of the most popular times to visit Burj Khalifa, which also means it can be one of the more expensive and crowded periods.

Personally, I would save your sunset budget for another experience that offers an even better view of Dubai’s skyline.

Book online in advance because popular time slots can sell out, and online prices may be better than buying tickets on the spot.

Once inside, you’ll ride one of the world’s fastest elevators before reaching the observation deck, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Dubai.

Allow approximately 2–3 hours for the complete experience, including security checks, elevator queues and time at the observation deck.

Best Time to Visit Burj Khalifa

I recommend going in the morning, especially if this is your first Dubai trip.

Dubai is busy throughout the day, so arrive at least 30 minutes before your ticketed time.

Is Burj Khalifa Worth It?

If it’s your first time in Dubai, absolutely.

Some people feel that the experience isn’t worth the price, but if you skip it completely, you may experience a little FOMO later.

For a first-time visitor, I would still consider it one of Dubai’s signature experiences.

Your Dubai trip isn’t complete without exploring Dubai Mall.

It is one of the world’s largest shopping malls, and it’s so huge that you could spend an entire day there without seeing everything.

I’ve visited Dubai Mall many times. Whenever I had some free time, I would often end up there because it’s also a central point for several major Dubai attractions.

You can take the Metro to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station and then use the air-conditioned walkway to reach the mall. The walk usually takes around 10–15 minutes.

Taxis are also easily available, and if you’re driving, parking is generally free.

Entry to Dubai Mall itself is free.

You only pay for individual attractions inside the mall, such as:

• Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
• VR experiences
• Dubai Ice Rink
• Other entertainment attractions

Food Options

Dubai Mall has a huge food court with restaurants and food outlets from around the world.

Indian visitors will find familiar options such as Bikanervala, Bombay Chowpatty, Pizza Hut and McDonald’s, along with countless other choices.

One of my favorite tips is to visit the Apple Store balcony, where you can get a view of the Dubai Fountain without standing in the biggest crowds.

Dubai Mall generally operates from around 10:00 AM until midnight, although some restaurants and attractions may operate for longer hours.

You can easily spend 3–5 hours here, or even an entire day if you want to explore everything.

Best Time to Visit Dubai Mall

A good plan is to visit Dubai Mall after Burj Khalifa in the morning.

Then you can spend the afternoon indoors, especially during Dubai’s hotter months.

And one important tip: wear comfortable shoes!

You can walk several kilometres inside Dubai Mall without even realizing it.

Is Dubai Mall Worth Visiting?

Absolutely.

Even if you’re not interested in shopping, the entertainment, architecture, restaurants and atmosphere make it one of Dubai’s must-visit places.

3. Wings of Mexico – A Free Instagram-Worthy Photo Spot

Just a short walk from Dubai Mall, you’ll find one of Dubai’s most popular photography locations: Wings of Mexico.

The large wings align beautifully with Burj Khalifa in the background, creating the illusion that you’re standing in front of the world’s tallest building with giant angel wings.

It’s extremely popular for Instagram photos, reels and travel content.

How to Reach Wings of Mexico

Exit Dubai Mall from the side toward the Dubai Fountain and start walking around the fountains.

Depending on your exact starting point, it can take around 10–15 minutes.

You can also ask people nearby for directions because the location is well known.

Entry Fee

The best part?

It’s completely free.

You simply need to wait your turn if there’s a queue for photographs.

Best Time to Visit

For fewer crowds, try:

• Early morning
• Afternoon before around 4 PM
• Just before sunset

If you’ve already visited Burj Khalifa and want a more thrilling experience, Sky Views Observatory should definitely be on your list.

Located at Address Sky View, this attraction gives you a completely different perspective of Dubai’s skyline.

And this is the place I was talking about earlier when I said you should save your sunset budget for a better experience.

Sky Views Ticket Prices

Standard observatory tickets can start at approximately AED 80–100, while experiences such as the glass slide and Edge Walk cost extra or can be purchased as part of combination packages.

Prices change depending on dates, packages and availability, so check current rates before booking.

What Can You Do at Sky Views?

The experience includes:

The glass walk is especially exciting if you enjoy heights.

It’s scary and fun at the same time!

Best Time to Visit

For me, sunset is the best time.

You can watch Dubai transform from a bright daytime skyline into a sparkling city after dark.

One useful money-saving tip is to consider booking a slot before sunset, depending on the ticket rules and package you choose.

Sky Views is also only around 10–15 minutes on foot from Dubai Mall, making it easy to combine both attractions on the same day.

Right next to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, you’ll find another iconic Dubai attraction: the Dubai Fountain.

It’s one of the city’s most famous free experiences.

The fountain performs choreographed shows with music and water reaching impressive heights.

Dubai Fountain Entry Fee

Watching the fountain from the public viewing areas is free.

The show itself is usually only a few minutes long and operates at scheduled intervals, but timings can change.

How to Reach the Fountain

Exit Dubai Mall toward the Burj Lake/Fountain area.

From the mall’s main exits, the fountain viewing area is generally just a 5–10 minute walk.

Best Time to Watch the Fountain

I recommend visiting after sunset.

At this time, Burj Khalifa is illuminated and the surrounding skyline creates a much more impressive atmosphere.

Try to arrive 20–30 minutes early if you want a good viewing position.

And here’s another useful tip:

You can sometimes get a great view from the Apple Store at Dubai Mall, which can help you avoid standing in the busiest viewing areas.

The Burj Khalifa and surrounding buildings can also feature special lighting displays during festivals and special occasions.

If there’s one experience that truly captures the spirit of Dubai beyond its skyscrapers, it’s the desert safari.

From thrilling dune bashing to traditional camps, BBQ dinner and desert activities, this is an experience I would recommend to almost every Dubai visitor.

And personally, ATV riding is one of my favorite activities.

Most desert safaris take place in desert areas outside central Dubai, including areas around the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve.

The drive from downtown Dubai can take roughly 40–60 minutes, depending on the location and traffic.

Dubai Desert Safari Prices

Standard evening safari packages can start at approximately AED 100–150, while premium experiences with luxury camps, private vehicles and additional activities cost considerably more.

Rather than focusing only on the price, compare what’s included.

My package included:

• Hotel pickup and drop-off
• Dune bashing
• Camel ride
• Sandboarding
• BBQ dinner
• Live entertainment

Quad biking was an additional cost, and I paid around AED 200, although prices can vary depending on the package and vehicle.

How Long Does a Desert Safari Take?

Most evening safaris are almost a full evening experience.

Pickup can be around 2–3 PM, with the return sometimes around 9 PM, depending on the package and group.

Overall, you should expect approximately 6–7 hours, including transportation.

Your adventure usually begins with a 4×4 dune-bashing experience.

Some packages may also offer different vehicle options.

Additional activities such as henna, photographs with birds and traditional outfit rentals may cost extra.

Desert Safari Tips

If you are prone to motion sickness, avoid eating a heavy meal immediately before dune bashing.

Also:

• Wear light and comfortable clothing.
• Wear comfortable closed shoes.
• Carry a light jacket during winter evenings.
• Check exactly what your package includes.
• Compare shared and private safari options.
• Consider a premium package if your budget allows.

Evening safaris are particularly popular because the weather is cooler, you can watch the desert sunset, and the evening entertainment program is usually included.

A desert safari gives you a completely different side of Dubai, away from the skyscrapers and shopping malls.

For me, this is one of Dubai’s most memorable experiences.

7. Dubai Yacht Cruise or Dhow Dinner Cruise

If you want to experience Dubai’s skyline from the water, you have two excellent options:

A luxury/shared yacht cruise or a traditional dhow dinner cruise.

Both are completely different experiences.

Yacht cruises are more modern and usually focus on sightseeing and photography, while dhow cruises offer dinner, entertainment and a more traditional atmosphere.

Cruises can operate from areas such as Dubai Marina and Dubai Creek, depending on the experience you book.

You can reach Dubai Marina by Metro and then walk or take a short taxi ride. I personally used a taxi.

Dubai Cruise Prices

Shared yacht cruises can start at around AED 100–150, while dhow dinner cruises can start at approximately AED 100–200, depending on the package, timing and inclusions.

Some operators also offer morning packages that include water activities.

Prices can change, so compare the available packages before booking.

Yacht Cruise vs Dhow Cruise

For the best views, I recommend sunset.

The Dubai Marina skyline looks beautiful as the sun goes down and the city lights start appearing.

If you have additional time, you can also explore Bluewaters Island and see the famous Ain Dubai area. I couldn’t visit it during my trip because of time limitations, but it’s another option you can consider.

Arrive at least 20–30 minutes before departure.

If I had to choose only one, I would personally recommend the yacht cruise for the views and overall experience.

8. Save sunset for the right experience.
You don’t necessarily need to pay extra for a sunset Burj Khalifa ticket. Sky Views or a Marina yacht cruise can provide a fantastic sunset experience too.
